How is this Project different from previous power infrastructure projects in Astoria?
The Luyster Creek Energy Project is unique because it will guarantee displacement of emissions from USPowerGen’s existing older, less efficient operations with the use of a newer, higher efficiency, lower emitting units. USPowerGen is able to guarantee reductions because it owns generators at the site that will have new lower emissions caps placed on them. Few projects previously proposed have had the capacity to guarantee and deliver better environmental conditions for the neighborhood and City.
